 My book, The Arrow of Apollo, was republished by Wilton Square Books this month, and I've celebrated by sharing a couple of extracts. 

I've also written about re-reading and John Brownswerd (a Latin poet and teacher at the grammar school in Stratford upon Avon), over on my Substack.

Book Signings at Pickled Pepper and Waterstones Gower Street

 

I've been thrilled to pop in to a couple of bookshops over the past few days to sign copies of THE ARROW OF APOLLO. 

Pickled Pepper in Crouch End is a lovely independent bookshop, with a knowledgeable and friendly bookseller in charge. You can order The Arrow of Apollo from them via email. Their site is here: https://www.pickledpepperbooks.co.uk/

And it was great to see Waterstones Gower Street again - I had forgotten how large and extensive their children's department is. The picture above was taken there - a whopping great pile of copies to sign. Hooray!

Classical Association Round Up

Philip Hooker of the Classical Association rounded up all the books with classical themes - and I was so pleased to see The Arrow of Apollo in the list. I'm delighted that the Classical community is finding the book: "The most imaginative work is probably Philip Womack’s The Arrow of Apollo, a fresh interpretation of Greek Myth for young adults, set in Achaea and Mycenae 15 years after the Trojan War."

 Today we give thanks for the existence of specialist magazines. The brilliant Wunderdog has reviewed How to Teach Classics to Your Dog; and Argo, the magazine of the Hellenic Society, has reviewed The Arrow of Apollo.

Leonie Breeds in Argo was very perceptive about The Arrow, and finishes her kind review: "As you read, you find yourself immersed in a fastmoving but well-structured plot. This is a book to be enjoyed."

Some good news: THE ARROW OF APOLLO, my children's book based on Greek myth, has reached 100 % of its funding target with Unbound. I'm absolutely delighted, and can't wait to see the finished product, which will be a beautiful hardback.

Some good news from the crowdfunding wars: "The Arrow of Apollo" is now 92 % funded. This has been a long, slow journey, and now it's almost there. To celebrate, I'll be regularly posting paintings of Apollo over on Twitter and Tumblr.
